SUMMARY:Understanding Our Democracy
DESCRIPTION:“A Truly Representative Democracy” \nWe like to believe that we live in a representative democracy.  However\, it has always been a bit of a stretch. Our single member\, winner-takes-all elections have never supported a truly representative democracy. But recent events are sending us off the cliff. The key changes have been driven by the Supreme Court gutting the Voting Rights Act and blessing partisan gerrymandering. And we see ongoing attacks on voting rights. We now are in a death spiral as many states works to eliminate any representation for the opposition. We will take a hard look at the problem and how we can fix it.
